I don't wear panties when I wear skirts, or yoga pants. I like the airy feel between my legs in a skirt and yoga pants show the panties though and I don't like wearing thongs. I would wear panties with jeans or pants, the crotch seam is annoying when stuck between the pussy lips. Plus it's unhygienic and can lead to vaginitis. Going command is a good idea only if you wear the pants for a short time, wash your butt everytime you use a bathroom and wash the pants after wearing them once, just like you would do it with panties.
