what language (or languages) do you speak? I know it may seem like a strange subject for this site but think about it, it's not. so many men and women from all over the world visit here and language barriers keep everyone from being able to talk to everyone. as for me I speak English and I'm learning Japanese.

English, and a little Cheyenne
By leopoldij [Ignore] 29,Oct,23 00:41 other posts
How come you speak Cheyenne? Are you native American?
By wycowboy [Ignore] 30,Oct,23 11:37 other posts
I am part Blackfoot but don't live in that area and don't speak any. I live near the Northern Cheyenne reservation, which is in Montana, but I live in north Wyoming. I sold auto parts here and a lot of the natives from the reservations (Cheyenne and Crow) would come in and look for me as I treated them with respect. Because of that I learned a little Cheyenne. Crow is really hard, I never really learned any.

That's so nice dude.
Good for you.
I applaud your decision to learn that language because languages must survive. The Europeans fucked up the world but you and other people like you are there to prove that diversity in humanity won't die.
I'm European myself but I'm really really happy for your efforts.
Thank you.

Norwegian? Are You serious?

Ja, norske. Jeg er bitte litt rusten skjønt.
By Emerald [Ignore] 06,Nov,14 14:20 other posts

That wasn't difficult, was it? No doubt everyone here understood perfectly. If not, I can always repeat it, just a bit louder.

Just put up that great OZ national anthem in the Great songs/Great lyrics forum.
By #23212 14,Jan,14 01:46
Thanks, 'poolboy_' for posting the lyrics.

While you are most definitely not alone, 'pb', in believing that 'Waltzing Matilda' is the OZ National Anthem; and possibly many more wish it were, 'Advance Australia Fair' is the National Anthem there .

Here's one of my favourite versions of 'W M':

Please listen to the song. Liam Clancy - Band Played Waltzing Matilda Very moving .About the Anzacs and the horrors of war.
By #23212 14,Jan,14 20:33
I just listened to it--yes, moving. Maybe it can keep more young men and women from marching off ...

Songwriter: LIGHTFOOT, GORDON
The songs of the wars are as old as the hills
They cling like the rust on the cold steel that kills
They tell of the boys who went down to the tracks
In a patriotic manner with the cold steel on their backs

The patriot's dream is as old as the sky
It lives in the lust of a cold callous lie
Let's drink to the men who got caught by the chill
Of the patriotic fever and the cold steel that kills
....
