Sad news from the entertainment world again. Singer/songwriter Jackie Trent (whose real name was Yvonne Burgess) passed away aged 74 on Saturday, 21.3.15. She had a number 1 hit exactly half a century ago in 1965 with "Where Are You Now, My Love?" and went on to compose many songs with her later estranged husband Tony Hatch, especially for the one-and-only Petula Clarke. Probably the most famous Clarke/Trent/Hatch collaboration was "Don't S l e e p in the Subway" in 1967 while Tony, of course, composed the great Petula's world-wide hit "Downtown" which transformed her from c h i l d star and novelty pop singer to international stardom though Tony is still probably best known for composing the theme music to the well-remembered but oft-ridiculed British soap "Crossroads". R.I.P. Jackie
My girl loves Petula Clark's music.
