Ananas2xLekker you posted in Bella!s thead:
Why are there so little jobs for electrical engineers in the US?
There is no shortage of jobs for them here. I checked a job offer site and within 20 km there are 297 job offers, with salaries ranging from €2400 (for an apprentice) to $8340 per month (for a project leader).

What you call electrical engineers in your country, we call electricians. No college is required, only an apprenticeship. We call engineers people that go to university and get a batchelor of science degree in electronics. This is usually a four year degree. They DESIGN PROJECTS and the electricians or electronic techs ( if the work is on a piece of equipment) do the maintenance and repairs
By Ananas2xLekker [Ignore] 31,Aug,22 08:14 other posts
We call those electricians too. An electrical engineer with a bachelor or science degree in electronics is a little bit overqualified for electricians work, but then they could be a project leader like for smart home systems or personal solar power/battery smart grids and make lots of money.

In The Netherlands, the average electricians has a high school diploma (3 or 4 years) in electrical engineering. Someone with a bachelors degree in electrical engineering would be qualified for jobs in industrial automation or machine building. Someone with a masters degree in electronics could apply for a job at for instance ASML or Philips.

Similar to designing a high rise electric grid or ac/heat
By Ananas2xLekker [Ignore] 31,Aug,22 12:59 other posts
Anything in design requires extra skills on top of the original education, but those require electrical engineers too. I agree that a bachelor or master in Electronics is not the best education to find a job that exactly matches your education, unless the student is a genius, but it qualifies for lots of other jobs that pay well, if the perfect job doesn't present itself immediately. Higher education in a practical field is still a much better basis for a good career than a lower or no education. That is what I was implying with my answer to the original post.

It may be hard to believe but in our area you know what we are short of?
Plumbers, and arborist-tree cutters. What few there are, they are swamped.
A quarter million dollar investment in a bucket truck and chipper and some saws by a high school graduate could result in 3 other men getting a job and trees being cut at good pay.

Not every job requires high education. Skills are always a good job assurance.

I think education helps a lot.
By Ananas2xLekker [Ignore] 07,Sep,22 11:44 other posts
I agree. There might be some exceptions, but most of the people who finished a good education are doing well and most of the people who didn't finish any secondary education are struggling. Personally, I only know one example of someone who broke that correlation. He managed to do well with craftsmanship and hard work. He made good money, bought a house and lived the life, for a while. But he made some dumb decisions, didn't inform himself about bookkeeping and taxes and ended up with massive overdue mortgage payments and debts and had to sell his house. He made a lot of profit on the house, because he had totally renovated it, so he was debt free. But then he bought an expensive car. He is now living in an expensive, but small rental apartment and he will never be able to buy a house again, because house prices have gone up so much.
He is making good money again, a lot more than me, but he is living far below my comfort level (5 people in a cramped space), except for his rapidly depreciating, but very nice car. He has no regrets, but he deserves to live better for less, because I think hard work deserves rewards. It's however reality that ignorance can do great damage, to yourself and others.
Education is the antidote to ignorance..... At least it used to be.

I was told once by a banker that it is not just the degree you get that matters .The commitment of taking 4 years of your life to better yourself indicates you are dedicated .And if hired they figure you will apply that same dedication to your job.
Rather it works that way today or not,I don't know.I do know a freinds daughter got a full scholarship and changed her major 3 times. Finally got a degree in english literature. She is now a manager at a Cvs drug store.
She was no dummy, had high scores in high school. just blew a 4 year scholarship for nothing.
By Ananas2xLekker [Ignore] 08,Sep,22 03:22 other posts
Off course, that's true. It's the commitment, but you can also show commitment by showing that you have worked in the waste disposal business for 4 years and your employer was happy with your job.

However, finishing an education also shows your brain is capable of retaining information, mentally process it and reproduce it accurately, by successfully passing tests. That shows at least the mental capacity to learn, which is useful to employers, because no education will ever teach the exact skills and knowledge that employers need. If you say 'that's the problem of education', than I might remind you that every job is different and schools would need millions of different classes to prepare their students for their jobs and constantly update all those classes to the constantly changing job requirements. That's not the responsibility of education and the government is not paining the education system for it.
If you want that, than you should just give the job of education to the employers.
Just understand that it would make the working class even more dependent on employers than they are already and it would cause even more exploitation than there is already.

Some types of education only guarantee a good job in that field, if the student excels in that field, because demand for those skills and knowledge is much lower than the supply of students. No one is looking for a mediocre natural physicist with graduation subject in string theory. Only the biggest minds in that subject actually advances the science and there is not enough funding to have lots of mediocre minds trying to keep up. A degree in English literature would be a job security in education, but if the government cuts public school funding, English literature is one of the first to get cut. It's less important than just basic English and calculus, to provide the economy with fresh burger flippers and warehouse workers. And the private schools for rich kids only require a few exceptional English literature professors, to provide fresh elite club members.
By #610414 08,Sep,22 09:23
Part of the blame might be that kids these days are not given the exposure to different lines of study in lower grades. They go to college not knowing what they want to do with their life. I know, sometimes, life throws a wrench in our way. This lady that you know, I bet that you believe she should have gotten some other, more marketable, degree. However, the knowledge you acquire in your studies should let you apply it in many different lines of work. English Lit does give you excellent communication skills. That is a requirement to progress up the latter to management of a CVS.
By #678362 09,Sep,22 03:42
There are many older people that did not value education past reading, writing and math. I just feel that it is a great help throughout life. We would be stuck in time without it or so that is my thinking.
By #610414 08,Sep,22 11:11
Cuntluver you hit it on the head. This country lags way behind other nations in how education is provided to our people.

My maternal uncle started a tree service in upper state New York in the late 1940’s He got the contract to take care of emergency services for the town he lived in. He was a high school graduate and a GI during the war. He became a millionaire.

That's still possible now, if someone with a brain and skills works hard and invests in their business, but it's a lot harder than it was decades ago. During that time people were considered middle class, if they had some education and a job in a factory or as a truck driver or a postman. Now they have to be successfully self employed, in a highly technical or specialist job or in management. That's everyone I know, who has any money. Everyone who is 'expendable' makes shit money.

And that's not just in the US. Most factory workers and truck drivers make an OK living, but just working in a shop or for one of the privatized public utility services, is paid crap. We are having strikes of the railway personnel at the moment, because their pay has been the same or declining over many years and now inflation is high. People cannot pay their bills and will sit in the cold coming winter. There is where climate chance helps a bit; we probably won't ever have 15°F winters anymore.

Well that warm weather should extend growing seasons and allow food to be grown in places and countrys where it hasn't been able to be grown before.
IF Ukraine gets radiation from a nuke bomb or a damaged nuke plant, you will be wishing there was more dirt to grow food on quick.
The inspectors can't even get to the nuke plant because the russians won't stop shelling it.

Good for the north of Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Scandinavia and the north
of Russia. Bad for every area between the tropic latitudes and getting bigger.
Agriculture will be virtually impossible there and all the people who live there now, will either move or die. You didn't care much for immigrants, did you? Then why are you supporting the cause for mass immigration?

Outside of the tropic latitudes (which includes the south of the US) areas are already experiencing lots of problems now; heat records, wildfires, drought, dried up rivers, floods and hurricanes. It's affecting harvests in the US and even in a mild country like mine. Costs of 'natural' disasters and prevention measures are rapidly increasing. But you don't want to know that and stick your head in the sand.

In those areas that are too cold for agriculture now, are lots of forests now.
If we need to use those areas for agriculture, because nothing grows between
the tropic latitudes, we would need to cut those forests, which will leave none.
All those trees are CO2 containers. Without them, climate change will be even worse. And in an increasing world population, lots more will be starving and everyone else will be paying more for food each year. That's not inflation,
that's scarcity.

You're just parroting another stupid argument from the fossil fuel industry's propaganda. Have you even gave it one thought yourself?

If Ukraine gets a nuke bomb, than it will probably be over all together, because the third war will be the last war. Are just just rooting for the end of the world,
so you don't have to do anything to save it?
By phart [Ignore] 02,Sep,22 09:33 other posts
I want the war to end now.
i was just trying to get you to understand that you are looking at issues in the FUTURE,when a current issue make may the future a moot point for millions.

"I want the war to end now"
Who doesn't? Do you have any great ideas on how to make it happen?

It's horrible what the Russians are doing, but I'm used to imperialists killing people in other countries. Not so long ago, the US was waging war in 7 countries at the same time and killed hundreds of thousands of innocent people. I argued against that, because there are lots of Americans here.
There are no Russians here, so me going on about how fucked up it is what Russia is doing, doesn't matter. All we can do is sanction the hell out of Russia and send a shit ton of weapons to Ukraine, so the war ends in Ukraine and Russians lose and go home defeated and demoralized to carry on waging war. Preventing nuclear war is done with strategy, carefulness and diplomacy.
That's why I'm happy the stupid, selfish, orange fascist is not running the biggest military force the world has ever seen at the moment.
He would end us all. I'm not very happy with Biden either, but at least
he is not surrounded with stupid little gutless cucks bowing to all his wishes,
who would all cum in their pants when Trump 'pushes the big red button'.

However, this site is full of climate change deniers, from the US, which is the biggest emitter of CO2 per capita in the world. Most of the problems of climate change are in the future, but there are already a lot of problems. And the solutions need to be implemented as soon as possible and as effective as possible, or preventing nuclear war is just delaying the downfall of humanity.
Therefore, I'm trying to talk some sense in the likes of you.

I don't have much hope I could actually change your mind, but I also see it
as training of my skills. Then I can use my best arguments on people who are still open to reason. I have much more success with my compatriots.
By #610414 08,Sep,22 08:57
Phart, your premise is good but you are not factoring the desire or lack off desire to do a very strenuous job working out in the elements during all seasons. Another factor is the ability to visualize a need in the community and how to go about meeting that need.

People on the “radical left” merely want trans women (and trans folks in general) to have access to safe, age-appropriate health care, bathrooms, and yeah, sports. Protections against discrimination at the workplace, in finding and keeping housing, and again, health care would be great too. So radical, right?
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is a menace to anyone who isn’t a white, cisgender, able-bodied man. We know this, but it bears repeating as we discuss the latest terrible “bill of rights” to get Paxton’s signature. Dated Sept. 7, 2022, a press release from Paxton’s office (brought to our attention thanks to a tweet from journalist Andrea Grimes) celebrates his signing of a “Women’s Bill of Rights.” Of course, Paxton being Paxton, this has nothing to do with protecting reproductive health care or wage equality or domestic violence relief, or anything else remotely valuable or important. Instead, it’s transphobic.
The bill of rights, unsurprisingly, is bursting with transphobia and bio-essentialism. For example, it declares that only cisgender women can become pregnant and give birth (not true—many trans men and nonbinary people can and do both of those things, for example). It also purports that cis men are “stronger,” “bigger,” and “faster” than cis women. (Again, this is untrue, as all genders come in all sizes and levels of strength and skill.) It also claims that “unique and immutable biological differences” between cis men and cis women occur not only during puberty but “before birth.” And that is not true either.

CAT
I never understood why any of this is anybody's business other than the person it affects.
By phart [Ignore] 11,Sep,22 22:12 other posts
Why warp reality to comply with fantasy?
Biological women are the only 1's that can get pregnant. Now if they have facial hair and no tits, they were still BORN WITH a WOMB and the other parts needed to bare young.
A Biological MALE can NOT give birth or nurse a baby .Regardless if his dick is cut off and he has store bought boobs and wearing heels.
Be real, this woke shit is ridicules.
Try finding cisgender in a dictionary from 40+ years ago. IT WAS NOT THERE.
Neither is transgender

Websters dictionary, 1947

Sex. the distinction between male and female ,males collectively or females collectively ,

Gender , 1 of 3 classifications, masculine, feminine, or neuter.
No mention of "trans, cis, or any of these other terms that have been in vogue lately. Social constructs of the woke mob. To many people mating with close relatives, drugs mutating unborn babies, just something not right in the milk. Sure it was known in the old days ,but not nearly as common.

and how does a "woman" that was a male explain to all "her" girlfriends she is suffering from prostate cancer?

How does a "man" that was born a woman explain to all "his" pool hall buddys he has ovarian cancer?

If these people would stop asking for special treatment and go to the doctor to get help with legit issues no one would say a word. But just because you "don't feel comfortable" in your body is not a problem, it is something that is in your head .perhaps you need some help, but it needs to be at the right office.

I am sure these people have problems in the world but they bring it onto themselves when they choose to be different.

It’s still happening. The two accused, brothers, are no longer together because one of them is dead. He died of stab wounds that were not self-inflicted according to the RCMP. Translation: his brother killed him.
The living brother, Myles Sanderson, is still at large. The RCMP reported that he may be injured and may seek medical assistance. Translation: the two brothers had a knife fight and one of them died but the living one left blood at the scene.

The pure Orwellian double-speak of Gov. DeSantis’ ‘Stop Woke’ act | Column, July 29

I am baffled by the rhetoric I hear from Florida Republicans about how “free” the citizens of Florida are thanks to Gov. Ron DeSantis. Every day as I read the news, it is one story after another about how Florida politicians are making choices for us and for our children. The party of “less” government is now deciding for me when I can have an abortion, the amount of medical marijuana my doctor can prescribe, what books our children read, regulating gender preference and last, but not least, how history is taught. This is the same party that flies “don’t tread on me” flags. So how come I feel tread upon? In reality, we are less free and more regulated than ever. Instead of worrying about being “woke,” I wish Floridians would “wake” up.
By phart [Ignore] 01,Sep,22 21:20 other posts
You are being freed of the woke rhetoric and things are being reset. Male and female, abortion is being treated as murder, which it is, and so on. you are also free to move to california where your ideas are common place
