That would be alarming however did you notice that there was a small portion of the green handle protruding from one end and at the other end of the sandwich was the blade?? I have ate at a subway alot but I always watch closely.
Me and a friend stopped at 1 near the big college campus about 15 years ago on the way home from a landscaping job and we WATCHED a fellow cut his hand with the knife while making a sandwich. not ours,but the guy in front of us.
He threw the bread away, got another knife,and went back to work WITHOUT washing his bloody hand!!! We looked at each other,looked at the guy that was saying,"uh forget that shit" and we all left!

Two possibilities - they went to the keypad and disarmed it. Or, they could have cut the phone line.

I am guessing the homeowners did not even arm the system. That is probably more likely. In either case, these shit birds did not just go around trying doors. They knew the owners were gone and likely were tipped off by someone.
