No, I'm not happy at all. I cannot imagine that so many Dutch people are this dumb. They have seen how they all got screwed from right-wing policies and all the dumb people who are angry about that, now voted for a guy who's likely to make every problem even worse. But, I'm also hopeful, because it looks like after 13 years, our right-wing (on economics) VVD is not going to participate in the next cabinet. If Wilders is going to join forces with Omtzigt, that could result in positive changes economically.

There is indeed a difference of definitions. Geert Wilders is called extreme right all most all the time, but he is only extreme right on the immigration problem. On everything else, at least his rhetoric on economics is very much to the left. He has promised lots of things that would be considered socialist, even by Dutch standards. If he has been honest about those things, then he would need to work together with the left to get those things implemented. However, I think he has been lying about those things, because he's a populist and wanted the working class to vote for him. He would have never gotten all those votes on just his anti-immigration ideas.

Because in the US, you just have two parties, you cannot imagine a left-wing party being against immigration, but my Socialist Party is actually very much against labor migration and the problems that it creates. We still want to help refugees and invest lots of money into immigrant shelters and immigration services, but the claim that the left welcomes everyone with open arms is just a straw-man. We have a very high population density and a housing crisis. Socialists just want be responsible and fix the problems caused by the right-wingers' irresponsible spending cuts. I have said many times that we cannot accept all immigrants who just come to The Netherlands looking for jobs. Under the VVD, lots of immigrants came to my country. We had to give general amnesty to many people, who had been here for many years, because the immigration services were ineffective in sending home the immigrants who had no refugee status.

Meanwhile, Wilders has promised to respect the constitution, so anything he promised about restricting Islam is impossible. Denying to do our part in receiving refugees will make us a pariah in Europe, which could be devastating for a country that is so dependent on international trade. Besides that, Wilders wants to cut a lot of taxes, but his other promises do not allow many spending cuts. That's why no one in my country has any idea what Wilders is going to do. If he cannot satisfy his racists followers and also not the working class who was tired of 13 years of Rutte's right-wing policies on economics, then he will go down much harder than he went up. Understand that the economical right-wing has been punished for their horrible damage. Rutte's VVD went from the biggest party, to third place, this election, behind the Green left/labor party.
