Your views, thoughts or simply opinions. The Economy is not well (understatement). I know there are some here that will try to link the country they are residing in as problems of the USA. Sorry the USA cannot be responsible for 100% of the problems in the world nor should they be expected to help repair all problems.

Republicans on the Rules Committee rejected an amendment proposed by Rep. Mark Takano (D-Calif.) which sought to clarify that opposition to the implementation of socialist policies in the U.S. does not include federal programs like Medicare and Social Security.

Good job Democrats, you helped Republicans destroy Medicare and Social Security.
My sympathies for all Americans who depend(ed) on that socialism.

You are missing the point of that resolution, it was to expose the democrats that Support socialism in government ,well beyond the 2 things you mentioned. And when those 2 things first came out, they were meant to be a hand up, not a hand out as they are used for now.
To many fools jump from job to job not building up any retirement benefits or stock holdings, expecting to live out their old years on social security.

Last time I checked you can take your 401K to the next job and private stock holdings are yours for as long as you want to. I think you righties are obsessed with the word "SOCIALISM". All countries need socialistic laws and this country is no different. Get over it. Too many fools that swallow the swill from the right. It's nothing more than a way to get votes.
They of course present it as calling out 'socialists' (while none of them has ever presented a definition of socialism), but it's a trick to destroy whatever social benefits you have left.

Medicare and Social Security are not handouts, they are benefits that people have paid for their whole careers. Just like your 401K, but without the risk of stocks or getting screwed by employers.

The whole modern world has some form of publicly funded pension system,
but I guess America is not rich enough to pay for old people to retire with dignity.
You either pay for it yourself or work until you die. Are you happy now?

For years You were expected to work 30 years and retire. Or if you chose, work a little longer and contribute to society instead of doing NOTHING.
You seem not to realize until recently work gave people a sense of purpose and accomplishment.
No 1 seems to value that, they want handouts now.
Of course we paid into social security ,but it was supposed to be kept seperate from government funds and invested so it would last and prosper, but it was thrown into the government coffers and we are always reminded of how it is going to run out!

It’s Senator Thom Tillis here. I just voted AGAINST the $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill. North Carolina families have been hit hard by out-of-control inflation and have been forced to cut back on spending and make sacrifices. It’s time for Congress to start doing the same. 

 

The omnibus contains billions of dollars of wasteful spending and left-wing priorities. And as our nation faces a crisis at the border created by the Biden administration, the omnibus even included a provision that binds the hands of Border Patrol, preventing any funding from being used to “acquire, maintain or extend border security tech and capabilities.” That’s seriously in the bill text!

 

With a new majority taking control of the House in January, I hope that Congress can start doing its job and get back to good government and fiscal responsibility.

My state doesn’t owe anything to DeSantis. All he’s done since becoming governor is embroil himself and the state government in lawsuits, false ideas, and backward thinking. It has cost the state (the taxpayers) millions upon millions of dollars that could have gone for better programs. He has alienated big businesses, created confusion and hatred in the school system, got into fights with the cruise ship industry and Disney, discriminated against the LGBTQ community and showed the rest of the country that this state has become a red state with no regard for the rights of a woman.
This state has has some very bright, good governors that, because of their leadership, Florida became the state to move to, and, no, they were not all Democrats. We’ve had several Republican governors that really cared for the good of the state and the people. Governors like Jeb Bush and Charlie Christ. All DeSantis did was take over a smooth working state and made a mess out of it, similar to what that Clown did with the federal government.

Burning a city is not lawful, but, it's not something done by a majority of the people. That is another form of terrorism and should be dealt with as such.
